The Core i7-900 processors are so fast that when all cores were used, it made very little difference whether they were running at 2.66 GHz or 3.33 GHz. The performance difference between the D0 stepping and the C0 stepping were virtually non-existent above 3 GHz, but at 2.66 GHz, the D0 stepping managed to improve the frame rate by 1.6%.

At the lower resolution of 1280 x 1024, the D0 stepping's performance advantage became more significant. The effect was minimal at 3.2 GHz, but at the lower clock speeds, the D0 stepping was 4-5% faster than the C0 stepping.
