ED#199 : 6 Things The Samsung Galaxy S6 Does Better Than The iPhone 6
It's official. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones are a smashing success for Samsung. Unlike the lacklustre reception to the Galaxy S5, the launch of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge saw people prebooking and even queuing up in droves to be the first to own one!
Even despite pundits criticising its lack of a microSD slot in both models and the high price of the Galaxy S6 edge (compared to the Apple iPhone 6), Samsung received pre-orders of at least 15 million units of the Galaxy S6 and 5 million units of the Galaxy S6 edge which were reportedly sold out at launch.
Why the craze? Because the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are not just legitimate challengers of the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, they actually beat them in many aspects. Let's take a look.

1. They have a much better rear camera
The Apple touts the larger camera sensor with 1.5µ pixels and large f/2.2 lens aperture in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as offering superior light gathering capabilities. But no amount of software magic they throw in can beat the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge's far superior camera hardware.

Not only do the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge take higher resolution photos, they do better in low-light conditions, which is why they have now supplanted our iPhone 6 as the camera of choice for taking photos and videos. Take a look at our Camera Shootout for some examples.

2. They have a much, MUCH better front camera
If you are astounded by how much superior the rear camera is on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones, you will be shocked at the even bigger difference in the image quality produced by its front camera, compared to the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The FaceTime camera in the front of every iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus may be good enough for FaceTime video chats, but it's a disaster for those who like to take selfies. If you compare the images taken in our Camera Shootout, you will never settle for the 1.2 MP "toy camera" which Apple should have stopped using two years ago.

3. They have a much better display
Apple may have "invented" the demand for high-resolution displays (which they dubbed "Retina HD displays") but Samsung has one-upped them with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones. Take a look.

If you compare these smartphones side-by-side, there is no doubt that the Super AMOLED screen is far superior to the IPS display (as excellent as that may be). It is not only super bright, it can deliver true black, which results in an infinite contrast ratio.
