Wacom Volito Tablet Review

The Package

The Volito comes in nothing more than simple plastic packaging. Inside the simple package, however, are the tablet, a stylus, a mouse, a driver CD and two bundled software CDs!

The tablet's dimensions are 224.1 x 221.0 x 22.3 mm but the actual active area only measures 127.6 x 92.8 mm (about the size of A6 paper). There is an indicator light that glows orange to indicate that the tablet is powered and flashes green whenever there is activity.

There is a stylus holder at the center of the tablet's top section for the stylus. It also comes with a semi-transparent plastic overlay with a rectangle drawn on it that corresponds to the active area. You can insert your artwork beneath the overlay for tracing purposes.

The stylus is really light. It felt more like those cheap pens you get at your local stationary store. It is exactly 149.0 mm in length and 12.3 mm in diameter. Unlike the stylus found in Wacom's other products like the Graphire, this stylus comes with a single programmable button. The Volito’s stylus also lacks an eraser.

But just like every Wacom stylus, it has one distinct feature that I really love - it doesn’t need a battery to run! Yup, you do not need to bother about charging any internal battery or using any battery to power this stylus. A dig through Wacom’s website reveals its secret!
