x264 HD Benchmark 3.0

The x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 measures how fast the processor can encode a short HD-quality MPEG-2 video clip into a high-quality x264 video clip. This is a two-pass encoding process and hence, the results will show the encoding speed (in frames per second) for each pass.

Pass 1 Results

Enabling Turbo Boost improved the first pass video encoding speed by 3-4 %.

Pass 2 Results

The second pass of the video encoding process was faster by 4 % with Turbo Boost enabled.

Pass 1 + 2 Average

When we look at the average of the two video encoding passes, Turbo Boost improved the Core i7-975 EE's performance by 3 % and the Core i7-965 EE's performance by almost 4 %.
