Presenting The Sonoma Notebooks
In an interesting twist, Intel launched and presented a few Sonoma notebooks in the format of a fashion show!
They had models parading with a notebook in their hands! They were dressed as business professionals, university students, even a homemaker.
Here are some of the photos I managed to take during the Mobility Fashion Show.
The choice of image projected by the models shows how Intel is targeting the market for their new Sonoma Mobile Technology platform, where everyone can benefit from practical mobile computing.

Market Positioning
Intel presents the notebooks that run on its new Centrino Mobile Technology as suitable for dynamic individuals of today and tomorrow, such as business professionals and university students. The many shapes and sizes that the machines come in caters to people from different backgrounds, professions and requirements.
And looking at some of the press materials that was given out, Intel even went on to present diaries from four different people of different walks of life, such as a university student, a businessman, a road warrior and a homemaker.
These are, of course, fictitious characters and diaries, but nonetheless, they did portray how mobile computing can change the way one functions on an everyday basis.
For example, in the diary of a university student, Intel describes how the student used a mobile-enabled notebook to do her homework anywhere, without needing to rely on the library laboratory. There was also an interesting note about how she was able to do her research on the Internet right at the cafeteria where she's suppose to meet up with her friend.
Another example of some of the interesting uses of the wireless world today, the diary of a homemaker wrote about how a mother was able to check what her two young boys were doing via her home webcam right from a coffee shop downtown!
Of course, her boys were not doing their homework!
From these diaries, we can see that Intel feels very strongly about the wireless and borderless world of today. With WiFi hotspots popping up like mushrooms these days, it's not very hard to get connected if you have a wireless-enabled notebook.
If you mix a powerful but power-saving processor with a chipset that features an improved graphics solution, a high definition audio solution and enable even more power saving features, you'd basically get what Intel presents as the Sonoma Mobile Technology platform.
