4. They have better protection

Samsung encased the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which is not only tougher but also thinner than Gorilla Glass 3.

Apple, unfortunately, chose to go with "strengthened Ion-X" glass, which is an ion-impregnated glass that isn't as scratch-resistant as Gorilla Glass 3.

5. They can recharge wirelessly and recharge faster

Wireless charging may seem like a gimmick but it's actually very useful. There are some kinks to be worked out, of course - as the video below will show, the charging pad is rather small and you will need to position the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones properly for it to work, but once you get the hang of it, it will become second nature.

It will be sometime before wireless charging becomes mainstream, but there is no doubt that this is the future of smartphone technology. Samsung should be credited for being the first to make wireless charging an integral part of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones.

Many people don't realise how important this is, but when you are on-the-go, you don't want to be stuck waiting for your smartphone to recharge. Samsung boasts that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones have a fast charging capability that gives you 4 hours of talk time with just 10 minutes of charging. But what about charging it completely from 0-100%?

6. They have a faster fingerprint sensor

When Apple first introduced Touch ID fingerprint sensor, many people derided it as a gimmick, but it soon proved its convenience and utility. It was not only far more accurate than anything else in the market, it was also simpler to use - you only need to touch the sensor. No need to swipe.

Samsung and Apple fingerprint sensor

After introducing the terrible "swipe-type" fingerprint sensor in the Galaxy S5, Samsung finally introduced the right fingerprint sensor in the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones. Like the Apple Touch ID fingerprint sensor, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge fingerprint sensor only requires you to touch it.

Apple's Touch ID sensor is arguably more accurate, possibly due to its circular design and smaller size, but the Samsung fingerprint sensor is much faster at detecting and verifying the fingerprint.
