Jetart Xcool NP4000 Portable Notebook Cooler Review

The Cooler

The Xcool NP4000 was designed for notebooks with 15" LCD screens. But it will work with bigger notebooks.

Made primarily out of ABS plastic, the only large metal part is the aluminium faceplate in the center. That is also where the outlet for the two 70mm fans are found.

The use of ABS plastic is commendable. This not only ensures a light cooler, it also ensures there is no possibility of burning your thighs with this cooler!

Here is a close-up of that aluminium faceplate and the Xcool logo.

Because of the extensive use of ABS plastic, the Xcool NP4000 is a really light cooler. It weighs only 800g without the NiMH battery. The battery adds another 50g for a total weight of 850g.

Here is a close-up of one of the fan outlets.

The grill pattern is really only there for aesthetic reasons. They do not function as a fan guard as the holes are big enough to allow even adult fingers in. So, do not start up the fans before you place the notebook over the cooler.

On the right end of the cooler's top are two LEDs.

The first LED (from the left) will light up green when there is power. The second LED will light up orange when the internal battery is being recharged.

However, the placement of the LEDs is questionable. Once the notebook is placed on the Xcool NP4000, you can't even see the LEDs! So, you will never know whether the fans are running or not. Or if the internal battery is being recharged.
