Updating Its Firmware
Whenever you launch the HERA software, it will automatically check to see if there is a firmware update. You can also manually chec for a firmware update in the Update / Support screen.
Clicking Yes at this point brings up a caution statement in Engrish. Obviously, you should not be updating multiple firmwares at the same time... but I guess you never know!
If you click OK, HERA will start downloading the correct firmware for your GAMDIAS mouse automatically.
Once it completes the download, it asks you again if you are ready to perform the upgrade. Hit Upgrade to start the process.
Obviously, when HERA is uploading the new firmware to the HADES, you should not interrupt the process by closing HERA or pulling out the cable.
Once it's completed though, you will be asked to unplug the HADES from your computer to restart it using the new firmware.
GAMDIAS definitely did their work on the firmware upgrading process. It was easy, and relatively seamless. Great job!

Conclusion
Unlike the alien-looking GAMDIAS ZEUS, the GAMDIAS HADES has a more conventional design. Don't get us wrong - it looks very futuristic, especially with the two larger side panels installed. It will appeal to a wider range of users, we think, especially since it is even ambidextrous.
The magnetically-locked side panels are definitely a nice touch. Although they do not offer fine adjustments like the adjustable side panels in the GAMDIAS ZEUS, they actually offer a wider adjustment range of 15.3 mm versus just 4 mm on the ZEUS. Of course, after deciding on the side panels that best fits your hand, you are unlikely to ever change them again, but you will be glad there's such an option in the first place.
When we reviewed the ZEUS, we felt it was a little too large for "Asian" hands. We can definitely say that the HADES is a better fit for us. It was not so much the width of the ZEUS (which can be adjusted), but the length. The HADES, in comparison, was short enough that we can easily reach all 8 buttons and rest our palm on the tracking surface for maximum support and stability.
Although it appears that GAMDIAS opted for the cheaper (but harder-wearing) UPE mouse feet instead of teflon, the larger strips made for a smooth gliding experience. We are also happy to report that the HADES was very stable and does not rock at all, which is not always the case with cheaper mice.
The HADES' ability to adjust the resolution on-the-fly is very useful, if you switch often between work applications and games. Unfortunately, it only comes with a DPI Cycle button, which limits its functionality since you have to cycle through the 5 different DPI settings. We would have preferred two buttons - DPI Up and DPI Down, as we would most likely just switch between 1600 dpi and 3200 dpi, even though the HADES supports a peak resolution of 8200 dpi and can go as low as 400 dpi.
Even though the HADES is a mid-range gaming mouse is the GAMDIAS stable, it is a well-designed mouse that feels great in the hand. We certainly love using it so much, we are awarding it our Reviewer's Choice Award! Congratulations, GAMDIAS.
Incidentally, we are giving this review sample away in our 2015 Mega Giveaway Contest! You could be the proud owner of the GAMDIAS HADES gaming mouse!
