Close-up!
Here is a close up shot of the WHEEL.
The wheel was basically inserted into the heel area of the shoe and held in place by rubber grips. You can remove it easily with your bare hands (in case your lecturer or boss gets on your case for wearing these in school or office!). As long as you don't accidentally roll over anything like.. dirty water.. mud.. and some other things I'd rather not mention!
This is what the base of the heel looks like after you pop out the wheel.
Looks kinda bare, doesn't it? In the Heelys US website, it appears that their shoes come with heel covers that you can insert into the heels to replace the wheels, turning them into normal shoes.
There is some writing in the wheel bay. Hmmm... Looks like they have the legal power to sue all the cheap knockoffs that are available.
The wheels themselves are normal enough, the axle can be separated from the wheel for easy cleaning. Maybe I should spray some WD40 onto the shaft and see if it spins even better!
