OCZ PC4800 Platinum Elite Edition DDR Memory Review

The Module

The module is covered with two platinum-plated copper heatspreaders which is certainly eye-catching. You will want to only hold the module by the sides because fingerprints show up very easily on the burnished surface.

Front of the module

The white label confirms that this is truly the OCZ PC4800 Platinum Elite Edition module with a capacity of 512MB and dual rated timings of 2.5-4-4-10 and 2-2-2-5.

Label

The front heatspreader also sports an embossed logo, which really matches the mirror finish of the platinum-plated heatspreader. They make the module look classy, without going overboard.

In the back, there's nothing, except for the embossed OCZ logo.

Back of the module

Peeking under the heatspreaders, we noticed nothing out of the ordinary. The memory chips were all properly taped to the heatspreaders.

Under the heatspreaders

Of course, the heatspreaders are not merely held in place by thermal tape. Two stainless steel clips keep the heatspreaders firmly attached.

Clip

It's difficult to remove the heatspreaders and you risk damaging the module. Please note that removing the heatspreader automatically voids the module's lifetime warranty. So, don't attempt it unless you absolutely MUST peek at the memory chips.
