The ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE550KL) Smartphone
The ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser has a 5.5" IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1280. It is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) SoC with 2 GB of LPDDR3 SDRAM, and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with ZenUI. It comes with 16 GB of flash storage, which can be expanded through a microSD slot.

For selfies, the ZenFone 2 Laser has a 5 MP wide-angle shooter in the front, but for serious photography, there is an 13 MP PixelMaster 2.0 camera at the back. The main camera is supported not just by a dual-tone flash to its left, but also a laser focusing diode and receiver to its right.
ASUS designed the ZenFone 2 Laser to be ambidextrous. Hence, they placed the Power button at the top, with the Volume rocker switch at the back. This allows for easy handling by both right- and left-handed users. ASUS placed the earphone socket at the top, with the speaker located at the bottom of the back cover.

The ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser boasts the same concentric circle design (with a 0.13 mm pitch) on the bottom bezel, and a curved back that ends in a 3.9 mm edge, as the flagship ASUS ZenFone 2 model. However, its rear cover replaces the premium diamond-cut lines with a flat matte finish. The good news is the matte finish is also very resistant against fingerprint smears.

Opening Up The ZenFone 2 Laser
The ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser comes with two SIM slots, with dual standby capability. This means both SIMs are connected to the network, but only one can be used at any one time. The ZenFone 2 Laser also comes with a removable Lithium-Polymer battery. To access the battery, as well as the two SIM slots and the micro SD slot, you will need to remove the back cover. Here is our video demonstrating how to do that :
The SIM1 slot is located immediately to the left of the Volume rocker switch, directly under the micro SD card slot. Make sure you insert the micro SIM card in the bottom slot. The top slot is for the micro SD card. Please note that the ASUS manual mistakenly reversed both slots in their instructions. The SIM2 slot is located to the far right.

The ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser comes with a removeable lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 3,000 mAh. Although the manual does not mention it, you will need to remove this battery to insert a micro SIM card into the SIM1 slot.
