Introduction

Cooler Master is pretty well known among PC hardware enthusiasts for their great line of products, especially among modders. Among some of their popular products are their line of aluminum enclosures, hard disk coolers and CPU coolers.

Today, we are taking a look at their Aerogate II Thermal Controller . Whilst this product has already been on the shelf for some time, this appears to be a new revision with some nice improvements. So, let's take a look!

Here's what Cooler Master has to say about the Aerogate II :

The dynamic Aerogate II thermal controller gives you monitoring capability of 4 different important component temperatures. In addition, users can control all 4 corresponding fans at the same time. The large LED backlight display and the custom-designed 7-color dial give ultimate viewing pleasure. With the Aerogate II, thermal control can be accomplished with the touch of your finger.

In addition, both of these issues which were encountered in the first versions have now been addressed by Cooler Master.

• Not being able to change the preset temperature at which the Aerogate II automatically brings that component's fan up to full speed. By default, this is 65ºC (149ºF) for the CPU and graphics card, and 55ºC (131ºF) for the hard disk and case.
• The in-built alarm which goes off when the Aerogate detects that a fan/thermal probe is not attached; or if the fan runs below 500 rpm.

The first issue has been fixed and users can now adjust the threshold for each component to their liking. I did not actually encounter the second issue in the first version of the Aerogate II, so this has probably been fixed on the hardware/software level. But Cooler Master now allows users to disable the alarm and run the unit in silent mode.
