Crysis Warhead
Crysis Warhead is one of the most graphics-intensive games today. We tested it to gauge the processor's effect on such graphics-intensive games.
At the highest tested resolution of 1920 x 1200, it is obvious that the game is GPU-limited. The Intel Core i7-920 delivered virtually the same frame rate as the Core i7-975 Extreme Edition. The almost imperceptible performance gap widened a little when the resolution was set to 1600 x 1200. Even so, the Core i7-975's frame rate was just over 3% higher than that of the Core i7-920.
At the lowest resolution of 1280 x 1024, the performance gap between each Core i7 processor model became noticeable. The Core i7-975 had a frame rate that was 2% higher than that of the Core i7-965 Extreme Edition and a full 10% higher than the Core i7-920.
Of course, we tested Crysis Warhead using Mainstream settings. The effect of the processor's performance on the frame rate would be less pronounced if you have a preference for the much more graphics-intensive settings of Gamer or Enthusiast.
