The First Bloomfield Models

Here's a more-detailed schedule that shows the three Bloomfield SKUs that Intel will be launching in Q4, 2008. At first glance, it appears that all three models are the same, with only relatively minor differences in clock speed. However, there's more to it than meets the eyes.

The 3.2 GHz Bloomfield XE will be the highest-end model and like all other Intel Extreme processors, will probably come with unlocked multipliers and a really hefty price tag to differentiate it from the other models. In addition, its QPI (QuickPath Interconnect) will run at a higher clock speed, delivering a peak bandwidth of 6.4 GT/s. The Bloomfield XE will also have a faster DDR3 controller, supporting memory speeds of up to 1333 MHz.

Both the 2.93 GHz Bloomfield P1 (Performance) and the 2.66 GHz Bloomfield MS3 (Mainstream) parts are very similar, differing only in their clock speeds. Both parts have a lower QPI bandwidth of 4.8 GT/s (25 % slower) and only support DDR3-1066. Here's a summary of their specifications :

The information posted here are accurate but because the Intel Bloomfield will only be launched several months down the road, these specifications are subject to changes. But as far as we know, the information posted in this article are the latest and most detailed information available on the upcoming Intel Bloomfield desktop processor. We will post more updates when we get more information. Wish us all the best!
