Introduction

Kingston Technology Company, Inc. is one of the better known suppliers of memory modules, with a good many years of experience in supplying OEMs with memory products.

Kingston has also been active in the retail scene with their their ValueRAM range, and in 2002, they launched their high-performance HyperX range of memory modules to meet the needs of enthusiasts.

This time around, we will be looking at their new HyperX PC2-8500 DDR2 memory. They actually have two PC2-8500 dual-channel memory kits - one with a capacity of 2GB and one with a capacity of 1GB.

Today, we will be taking a look at their 1GB HyperX PC2-8500 DDR2 dual-channel kit , with the model number of KHX8500D2K2/1G. This dual-channel kit comprises of two 512MB modules which Kingston has tested and verified to work in a dual-channel configuration.

Join us as we take a tour of Kingston 1GB HyperX PC2-8500 memory kit!

The Package

As usual, these Kingston modules come in a simple black plastic tray with a transparent top cover. The transparent cover is kept in place by a printed label that identifies the memory kit and provides a very rudimentary form of anti-tamper protection.

The label clearly identifies this as the Kingston KHX8500D2K2/1G memory kit. Just in case you cannot readily decipher what it means, it also includes basic specifications about the kit. Namely, it identifies this kit as a 1GB PC2-8500 memory kit with two memory modules, and that these modules were assembled in the US.

Contents

Inside the package, you will find :

  • Two Kingston 512MB HyperX PC2-8500 DDR2 memory modules
  • One warranty leaflet

There's nothing else in the package, just the two memory modules and a leaflet detailing the warranty covering the modules.
