The Cable Spool
This is what makes this mouse different from the other notebook mice. The cable spool allows you to retract the entire cable length into its compact form.
Of course, the thin cable helped a lot. It is so thin that they managed to pack a 75cm long cable into the spool! So, this retractable cable design not only allows a compact storage form, it also allows a long cable to be used.
The wire spool has five different 'stops' that you can select when choosing the cable length you want. In most cases, you will want to use the shortest length if the USB port is close to your mousing area, like it was for me (see above).
But should you need a really long cable, check out long the cable can get!
Pretty long, eh?
Let's take a closer look at the spool mechanism.
Above is a shot of the spool with the cable almost completely retracted. On both ends of the spool are cable guides that ensure that the cable does not get twisted during the retraction process.
Below is a shot of the spool with the cable at maximum length.
Once the cable is at this point, all you need to do is pull the cable again and the spool retracts the cable completely.
