POST Check LAN Cable
Common Options : Enabled, Disabled
Quick Review
Many motherboards have integrated LAN controllers with 1-2 ports. Some of these motherboards also come with LAN cable diagnostic capabilities which allow you to examine the status of any attached LAN cable. This is useful in troubleshooting LAN problems as it helps you determine if the LAN cable is at fault. To make use of this feature, you will need to use the POST Check LAN Cable BIOS option.
When enabled, the LAN controller will query any attached LAN cables during the POST (Power On Self Test) sequence.
When disabled, the BIOS will skip the inspection of the LAN cables during the POST (Power On Self Test) sequence.
If you have no problem with the local area network, leave this feature disabled. The LAN cable status check takes only a short time but it is not necessary if the network is working fine.
If you have a problem with the local area network, enable this feature to determine if the LAN cable is the cause of the problem, and if so, where the fault / short is located.
