Secondary SATA Controller
Common Options : Enabled, Disabled
Quick Review
This BIOS feature is only found in motherboards with a secondary Serial ATA controller (separate from the motherboard chipset).
When enabled, the secondary Serial ATA controller will function normally. Serial ATA devices connected to it will be accessible to the system.
When disabled, the secondary Serial ATA controller will be disabled. Serial ATA devices connected to it will not be accessible to the system.
Generally, it is recommended that you leave this BIOS feature enabled. But if you do not have any devices connected to it, you can disable it to speed up the boot process. This allows the motherboard to skip loading the secondary SATA controller's BIOS and its device check and initialization sequence.
Disabling it will also free up IRQs for other devices to use. However, with APIC and IRQ sharing support in modern PCs, there is no real need to disable the secondary Serial ATA controller just to free up IRQs.
