Serial ATA Controller
Common Options : Enabled, Disabled
Quick Review
This BIOS feature controls the function of the chipset's Serial ATA controller.
When enabled, the Serial ATA controller will function normally. Serial ATA devices connected to it will be accessible to the system.
When disabled, the Serial ATA controller will be disabled. Serial ATA devices connected to it will not be accessible to the system.
Generally, it is recommended that you leave this BIOS feature enabled. There is no need to disable this feature unless you do not have any devices connected to it, or for troubleshooting purposes.
Disabling the Serial ATA controller will speed up the boot process, and free up IRQs for other devices to use. However, with APIC and IRQ sharing support in modern PCs, there is no real need to disable the Serial ATA controller just to free up IRQs.
