MAC PHY IEEE Test

Common Options : Enabled, Disabled

Quick Review

This BIOS features determines if the BIOS should test the MAC (Media Access Control) and PHY (physical) layers of the onboard LAN controller during the boot-up process, and verify that they meet IEEE standards.

When enabled, the MAC and PHY layers will be tested during the boot-up process to verify that they comply with IEEE standards.

When disabled, the MAC and PHY layers will not be tested during the boot-up process to verify that they comply with IEEE standards. This may reduce the amount of time needed to boot-up the system.

As verification of the MAC and PHY layers of the onboard LAN controller would have been undertaken by the motherboard manufacturer, it is recommended that you disable this BIOS feature for a faster boot-up time.
